Research Methodology
Trust the process, not the logo.
Credibility comes from transparent sourcing, disciplined judgments, reproducible research, and strict boundaries around sensitive or harmful subject matter.
The Research Pipeline
Collect. Correlate. Challenge. Translate.
RidgeLine does not treat a vendor report, viral post, or list of indicators as finished intelligence. Inputs are collected, sourced, correlated, challenged, and translated into both technical findings and human impact.
Collect
Government and law-enforcement publications, security research, public technical telemetry, court records, platform transparency material, public web sources, and other lawful sources.
Correlate
Connect domains, accounts, malware, infrastructure, payments, behaviors, timelines, campaigns, and victim-targeting patterns where evidence supports the relationship.
Challenge
Test alternative explanations, seek corroboration, identify collection gaps, and avoid turning weak technical overlap into confident attribution.
Assess
State what the evidence means, what remains unknown, how confident the judgment is, and why the activity matters to people.
Translate
Produce research useful to technical readers while adding clear protection guidance for people, families, and small organizations.
Source Transparency
Three labels. No ambiguity.
RidgeLine Observed
Technical information independently observed, derived, or reproduced by RidgeLine through lawful and authorized research.
Third-Party Reported
Information originating with an external source. The source is named and the claim is not presented as a RidgeLine discovery.
RidgeLine Assesses
An analytic judgment produced from available evidence. Confidence, assumptions, and meaningful uncertainty are stated.
Analytic Confidence
Say how sure you are.
Strong evidence and/or multiple reliable, independent sources with limited meaningful gaps.
Credible evidence supports the judgment, but material gaps, ambiguity, or competing explanations remain.
Limited, circumstantial, or weakly corroborated evidence. The judgment should be treated as provisional.
Collection is still underway and the available evidence is insufficient for a stable analytic judgment.
Safety & Ethics
Sensitive research requires restraint.
RidgeLine is defensive and lawful. Research involving exploitation, minors, victims, or criminal ecosystems must protect victims and preserve legal boundaries rather than chase sensational access.
No hacking accounts, systems, services, or suspected offenders without explicit legal authorization.
No impersonating minors, baiting suspects, threatening actors, or independently conducting law-enforcement activity.
RidgeLine does not seek, acquire, retain, or redistribute illegal child sexual abuse material or other contraband.
Potential evidence of serious harm should be preserved appropriately and routed through legitimate reporting, victim-support, platform, or law-enforcement channels.
Source Governance
Public does not automatically mean reusable.
Every external source should have a licensing / terms-of-use note before RidgeLine republishes or commercializes derived data. The project includes a source-register template for tracking research use, commercial use, and redistribution rights.
RidgeLine should link and attribute external research rather than repackaging somebody else's indicator set as an original discovery.
